Merry Christmas, Love the Donners

Yay, Christmas!

It's been a pretty good one for us. We both got a bunch of nice things and it's snowing. A Christmas miracle, if you like that sort of stuff. Sean likes to drive in it, but I prefer enjoying it from the comfort of my pajamas indoors.

Here's a quick look at our spoils.

  • Yes, Please by Amy Poehler
  • Paddle Your Own Canoe by Nick Offerman
  • The Book With No Pictures by B.J. Novak
  • Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga DVDs
  • Planner
  • 642 Tiny Things to Write About (the book)
  • Beastie Boys - The Mix Up vinyl
  • Various smaller items
  • and, drumroll...... The iMac we already talked about!
Not Pictured:
  • Donner the Reindeer (build-a-bear)
  • Kids apron and chef hat (for a few years down the road)
  • Tickets to 9 Bee's games
  • Movie gift cards
  • Fox ornament
  • and Christmas Jammies

I'd say pretty good this year. And Nugget made out like a bandit, considering he (still assuming it's a boy) isn't due until July, with a couple books and the apron and chef's hat.

Here comes the sappy bit:
We're so grateful for our friends and family who've given us such great gifts and love. Also, we're so glad for all the support we've received in announcing our addition. This lil' cusser is gonna be the most spoiled thing in all the world, we're pretty sure. And we're thankful for it no less.

Merry Christmas!
Love,
Ellen, Sean and Nugget

The First Announcement

I was sick. Super sick. Like throwing up every half hour throughout the night sick. I skipped church that day because I was in such bad shape. The next day, I went to work and they sent me home because I didn't look great. Thank heavens for lovely co-workers. I went home, slept for a few more hours and then rested a little more. I hadn't thrown up since the morning before so I was getting better, but I still wasn't great.
At about 4 o'clock I got a weird urge to take the 'test'. You know the one. I grabbed the cheap-o one we had and went for it. Two faint lines. Wait. TWO. I was so nervously excited that I ran upstairs to ask my mom what she thought. Yep, two lines. She asked if I had another one I could take. I did. I guzzled a bottle of water, ran back downstairs, and took test number two.

I really couldn't believe it. It had been a year since we started trying and I was starting to get frustrated. Well... more frustrated. I flipped my ever-loving lid. I immediately re-downloaded all my favorite pregnancy apps, browsed Pinterest, and was frustrated when Sean told me he'd be late that night. No way, jose. I got in the car and drove the 40+ minutes to pick him up. I got to Lehi and went in to get Sean. We walked back to the car and I was playing it cool as a cuke.
"I made you something," I said.
I had put the second test in an old glasses case.
"It's a weird shape so I put it in here."
He opened it without any questions.
"I made you a baby!"
"Really?" He said with a look of disbelief.
I nodded. He closed the glasses case and gave me a huge squeeze. We got in the car and immediately started planning. We went to Applebee's for dinner and I was still icky-feeling (and would be for the next who knows how long). We ate and then went back home and told my dad. The next day (or so) I made my first appointment with our lovely doctor.
And that was one of the best days ever.
Love, Miss Ellen

Hi, Everyone!

Welcome to the new blog! It's still pretty fresh and will probably be updated quite a bit as we go along.
Since Sean and I found out we were expecting, I wanted an easy way to share what's happening with all of our family near and far and what's easier than a blog? Probably nothing.
We're seriously so excited to have a baby. It feels like it's been a long time coming, but it couldn't have come at a better time; Sean's starting a hot-shot position in his company, I have a steady job that's not stressful and has a summer break so I don't need to worry about maternity leave, we're planning on buying a house soon, everything is just working out so well. Plus we just bought a really nice computer as an early Christmas gift to ourselves and it's going to be perfect for keeping this thing updated, especially seeing as I've been really slacking on my other blog. (#boo)
Well, enough of the intro, let's get introduced!

This is who we're currently calling Nugget. He (assuming it's a he) is only 9 weeks old right now, so about an inch long. I'm told by my numerous apps that he's now a fetus and has distinct facial features. He's also making his mother exhausted (poor lady) and occasionally nauseous. But it's all worth it.
It hasn't all quite sunk in yet. I think it will once I really start out-growing my clothes and feeling his little wiggles, but until then I'm just relying on the fact that my pants are uncomfortable and I'm commonly ill in the mornings.
I think that's pretty much all for now. I'll try to post at least every week and upload photos as they come. Yay!
Love, Miss Ellen (as my students call me) and Nugget
